Who we are

Cipembele Exploration & Mining Services Ltd is an integrated mining services partner supporting exploration and production operations — from deep diamond drilling through to mine-site support. We are 100% Zambian-owned, headquartered in Ndola, and trusted by some of the most demanding operators on the Copperbelt and beyond.

We combine modern rigs and live digital reporting with disciplined field execution and an uncompromising safety culture. Our clients include KoBold Metals, First Quantum Minerals, Xtract Resources, Moxico Resources, Midnight Sun Mining and Zambia Gold Company / ZCCM-IH.

The problems we solve
Subsurface certainty

High-quality core and RC samples in challenging geology — fractured zones, water loss and hard rock at depth.

Program reliability

Repeatable performance across shifts and seasons, with disciplined HSE that keeps downtime out of your schedule.

Local content & compliance

100% Zambian ownership and a workforce built locally — supporting alignment with Statutory Instrument No. 68 of 2025.

Our commitment: safety first

Safety is our first priority — zero incidents, every shift. Every crew member holds stop-work authority. Safety leadership is visible on the drill pads, not filed in an office.

Safety

Zero-incident culture, strict procedures, daily inspections, alcohol and fatigue testing, toolbox talks before every shift.

Environment

Minimised footprint through rehabilitation, waste reduction and careful water and energy stewardship.

Community

Respect for traditional landowners, local hiring, and long-term skills transfer in every area we operate.

Selected experience
Case study · KoBold Metals, Kanyamata

Context. Deep exploration drilling near the Zambia–DRC border with high-precision requirements in complex geology.

Challenge. Fractured formations, significant water loss and hard rock at 500–700m+.

Approach. Specialised mobilisation, triple-tube coring through fractured zones, and Starlink/CorePlan for live collaboration with client geologists.

Result. Consistent core recovery at 9–45m per shift despite variable geology, zero major incidents under rigorous daily safety controls, and a workforce over 90% Zambian. Featured in KoBold Metals' contractor spotlight film.

KoBold Metals · Mingomba

A 788.63m single hole completed in under a month on our first deep-hole program — establishing our capability at depth and our reputation for schedule discipline.

Regional geochemical programs

5,048 soil and stream-sediment samples collected, catalogued and delivered ahead of schedule across two ongoing exploration programmes.

Earlier programs

Diamond and RC programs delivered for Moxico Resources (Chingola, Dongwe), Xtract Resources (Kalengwa), Midnight Sun Mining (Solwezi), Zambia Gold Company (Rufunsa) and First Quantum Minerals (Kansanshi, Solwezi, Mwinilunga).

Fleet & equipment

Our people
Cipembele drilling crew on site

Our crews are the reason clients come back. Over 90% of our workforce is Zambian, recruited wherever possible from the communities around our operating areas, and trained continuously in drilling technique, HSE and first aid.

Every driller and offsider carries stop-work authority. Shifts open with a toolbox talk and close with a reporting handover, so nothing carries silently from one crew to the next.

Skills transfer is deliberate: experienced drillers mentor offsiders toward driller certification, building the next generation of Zambian drilling professionals rather than importing them.

Why clients choose Cipembele
